Hi folks,
I need some advice on this one. I bought a set of used True Flow Instake and cleaned the True Flow filter properly using their cleaning kit.

I installed the intake and did the ECU reset according to the procedures posted in this forum and everything went fine.
However, after driving the MADA for more than two weeks, I noticed my mpg dropped. I am now averaging around 14.5 mpg while before the intake (stock filter), I was getting around 16-17mpg.

Did I miss anything? I noticed that I was driving less aggressive than before since the gas price has shot up.

Please advice.

Thanks.

Drop in MPG

When you reset the ECU you get more power less MPG. Now it has to learn to run efficient again.

Maybe I am over simplifying this, but a gas engine requires an air/fuel ratio of 14.7:1 and it seems if you put in more air you must add more fuel to retain the proper ratio. More horsepower does not come free, it requires more fuel to make a bigger bang.

You might not be simplifying it enough. It is true that more air means more fuel. But think of your engine as a "pump". The engine has to work to suck air into the engine, and has to work to push exhaust out of the engine. The easier (less restriction) you make it for the engine to run, the less work it has to do to pump the air in and exhaust out, the more work the engine can use to move the vehicle. This improves the efficiency of the engine. Theroretically, this would mean that it should require less throttle to produce the same amount of acceleration as before since the engine operates more efficiently. The problem is that (as I have this problem too) performace mods are used more for the increased power, and not necessarily for the increased efficiency i.e. cant keep the foot out of the pedal!
