Anyone ever figured-out how to mute the voice guidance without manually turning the volume off? Sometimes it's nice to have it muted while your in areas you know, then turn it back on quick when you want to. Or when someone calls you on your phone.

That's not Mute. That's shutting it off.
No, you can... There is a voice guidance button on the front panel. Push it and go through the menus. You CAN turn it off. I haven't heard that sexy voice ("1/4 mile until you get to your house in months").

Umm, what's the difference?
Difference is just being able to push a button to shut her up...versus having to go through the menus. They really need a "shut up" button imo. You set the destination before you leave and you know how to get to all but the last 10% of the trip but you have to hear her tell you directions all the way there.

You can cancel the destination and then when you get close just select previous destination...thats how I do it anyway.

There's volume control on the voice as well as on and off. Hit settings and it pops up. ;)

Yea, I've seen all those settings, and that's not what I want.

When I bought the truck I thought the mute botton on the dash would mute her from temporarily giving me directions...but to my suprise (read disgust) it only mutes the radio.

I think the factory NAV system is really an awesome addition to my truck, and I really like having the voice addition. Being able to hear, "Stay to the left, then turn right" is very helpful while I'm driving in an area I'm not familiar.

But there are times when I don't want to hear it (i.e. cell phone rings), and I'd like to be able to quickly mute her.....but it's not there. Seems like it's an obvious option...guess not.

NAV Options

Other obvious options:

- Automatic update of the clock when crossing timezones.
- A USB port to download trip planning from a computer.
Others???

Here is what would have made sense.

If it were turned off you could press the voice guidance button to get a single voice guidance for your exact location when you pressed it.

But this has to be the most annoying guidance system in the world so...

All you can do is turn it off and on by hassling with the menu.

The only time I need voice guidance is to know if its on the left or the right.

you go to the menu, go to navigation system, then there will be a way to check a box for different volume or mute for the voice. if you have a book it is in there step by step :)
Not so. Maybe you've got a different NAV computer version?
