So i'm looking into getting a 9" dvd player for the overhead console. Below is a description from the website. $749 is the price. Does anyone have this player? If so, does it just plug into the existing wiring?

Quite a few of us have that screen. I'm a little disappointed in the resolution but if I didn't have the NAV screen to compare to I probably wouldn't notice. The factory NAV is HighDef in comparison. Overall its a good option if you want a pretty much plug and play setup. You can have a headrest monitor mounted in the existing overhead pocket. I have a picture of my first monitor linked to in my signature. I replaced for the larger size and was hoping for better clarity but it's pretty much the same.

I've seen that monitor on ebay for around $500 fairly often. The same seller has a 7.8" screen listed fairly often too. The ebay price is better than what a friend of mine can get and he's in the audio/video install business.
Same screen

I had the same screen installed aswell as an acelvision dvd player wired into the factory radio controls. I had it done for $995 at a local installer. So that is kinda high for just the screen. I like it. My kids enjoy more than I do because it keeps them quiet on those long drives to grandparents in SC.
This is from another thread :) I also ordered the set up from DanDan.

Cost of M&D

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been getting quite a few emails on the Myron equipment and asked if I can sell them units, so I have broken down a price list and what is involved if you want to buy anything from me,

Here is the break down of prices that I have for you:

ANS-190 (Monitor) $512.00

AD-212 (dvd) $125.00

MV1rhs (Headphones) $60.00

Pac Turbo-1 (Pre-amp) $25.00

Shipping ?
-----------------------------------------------------------

Subtotal minus shipping $722.00

That total is for one monitor. The DVD is a M&D and does not have a tv tuner in it. They do not have anymore available with built in tv tuner. The headphones are Audiovox as I do not like the M&D headphones at all. The Audiovox are 1st class all the way. The turbo one is the pre- amp that you will use when integrating to the factory radio and you will be using the built in IR in the rear overhead. That means you have to disable the one on the M&D. I can have the units shipped direct from my distributor and the cost of shipping will be given to you when I have your address in order to give an accurate number. The units must be pre-paid before I have them shipped. Personal checks are ok and have to clear before shipping. Costs given to you are only marked up 10% from my cost. Warranties are manufacturer only. If you do not have it professionally installed they may not warranty there product. I will not warranty anything either since I am making next to nothing. If you feel comfortable with that it is a good deal. I have not had a single problem with this set up and I have put a bunch in. You can also email me if you have any questions.

Thanks a lot for all the good info. It looks like I'll have to check around on e-bay for the lowest price. Thanks again!
how to dissable IR (headphones) from the Myron Davis monitor ??

Does any one know how to disable the IR from the M&D monitor (ans190).
i would rather use the IR from the rear console of the 06 Mada.

Any help would be aprreciated.

There is no way to turn it off but if you can put a piece of black electrical tape over the IR transmitter. I did that to my Audiovox, it was easy because the covering for the Audiovox just pop off. Not sure how the M&D screen is built. Also your DVD player would need to be tap into the factory harness for you to use the factory IR.
disable the ir

You have to open up the screen and cut the trace to the ir diodes. It is pretty hard to do. The tape over the ir is one way but difficult because the ir's stick out, instead of being flush. I always diable them when I do the mada because I always use the factory ir.

I had the M&D ANS190 Monitor and DVD player installed late August 2006. Already I've had the monitor replaced twice for one reason, or another. The one problem that I've had with all, is a slight ghost image. Has anyone seen this, or know of a solution? The dealer that installed the unit, said it was odd, but could not fix the issue.

I'm thinking a bad ground would cause video issues.
I have the M&D 9" monitor. To disable the IR all you have to do is take the screen apart. Inside their is a plug you unhook to disable the IR.
