The factory Navi package (Tech Package) does not only come with the Navigation system but with the backup camera, tire pressure monitor, oil change and tire rotation monitor, trip monitor, and door ajar indicator (not sure what else I missed).

So, in my opinion, it is a good investment and will also bring up the resale value.

Just my $0.02

nav

my opinion is that its another gadget that boosts ego, to tell your buddies "i have navigation in my truck" Navigation is needed on boats and aircraft, places where there are no exit signs....really, 99% of driving is around town and to places you know.....I cant remember the last time I was ever "lost" and had to use a map or need a nav.......other than having the screen up and showing where you are and looking cool, how many people use it on a daily basis for actual directions? I think a very few (maybe outside sales people)

I put 35-40K/yr on my armada between town and long trips to VT skiing and down south to Annapolis to sail...never felt the need for nav..dont have it in mine,,,,will be putting a dvd system in

I just go to mapquest.com before making a road trip. Print out, vuo-la.. no getting lost. But I am wanting the Eclipse Nav/DVD/MP3 system. Probably would use it most for my MP3's. DVD/Nav system would come in handy just for the sake of being flashy

Like the above post, its a neat gadget that you get to play w/. Monitors gas effiency, tire pressures, etc.

In addition, its a great thing to have when needed. I'm in the process of searching for a new apt and instead of having the landlord give me directions over the phone or having to go home for directions, just type it in and the system gives you 98% pin point accuracy. Great when needed, does no harm when not.

I thought the same thing about not needing, now that I have it I'll never have another vehicle without it. If you live in a rural area then maybe you won't use it much but just the backup camera is a plus. I say get it, I doubt you'll regret it. It makes it easy to add a mobile entertainment system. See my signature links for some of the goodies I have added to mine.

Get the Navi

I do mostly city driving around Orlando, which by far is not a difficult metropolis to navigate, but I love the Navigation System. Helps when you didn't think you would need it. Mostly saves time (i.e. short cuts, avoid traffic, most direct route), no more "thinking" you are heading in the right direction. Especially during rush hour, hit the shortest distance button and you can cut through neighborhoods and find ways home you would have never known or attempted. It's a great tool to have handy.

is the back up camera included when you get the navigation?

the "carputer" would be something hubby would like, hey, I would probably like it also. Especially since I love surfing the web. But not while driving :D

Yes the backup camera is included w/navigation. The best thing about the nav. is you can do a quick stop at an atm, food, gas, etc. and tells you where the closest ones are and how far away they are. Navigation is great when you are in an unfamiliar place. You can do searches by phone numbers, street addresses and names.

I use it all the time. The backup camera is key. The NAV is great for me. I'm a wholesaler and go to see brokers all over the state. Sometimes I take the Mada instead of the G because it has the nav. Makes things really easy. Mapquest has put me in a cow pasture and told me I arrived at the DMV. True story. It also has a lot of extra menus with good stuff and I'm going to hook the DVD up to it also. ;)

Dont' get the option of Nav here :( but if we did I would have it. I use a Garmin 2610 which I take everywhere with me as it works in hire cars etc all over the world (if you have the maps). Its one of those gadgets that once you have used a bit you don't know how you lived without it.

If you only do school / shopping / visit friends type runs where you know where you are going then I suppose it would be a waste. As someone said its great for finding addresses, banks, hotels etc and as I travel alot I wouldn't be without one.

One point though if you know an area very well (trafic problems etc) you can find it will route you in a poor direction...local knowledge is king. Also the voice prompts telling you to turn into your street / drive can drive you mad :machinegu

PS always have a good map with you as well ;)

Mary, the NAV comes with the Tech Package. It's some coin, like $2700. But's it's not just NAV, it's full integration into your vehicle with a backup camera, trip monitors, maintenance tracking, and readouts for your HVAC, Stereo and clock.

Fact of the matter is this package is one of the best options available on ANY vehicle today, and the manner in which it was excuted was top drawer.

Sure when your friends get in, it wil amaze them, but this is not just some gee gaw that only looks great to impress but has no real day-to-day value.

I live in SO CAL and whenever I go somewhere I have not been before I plug it into the NAV. Having my "Girlfriend" :ugogirl: tells me how to get there wihout looking at the screen is SWEET! I wish I could mute her easier, but you can turn the volume down, or shut it compeltely off. Another awesome integration issue; you have the stereo cranked and your jammin' to __________, and you get lost in the moment. Do I miss my turn? No, cause my Girlfriend turns the volume down of my stereo down, and says, "Exit in left lane in one mile onto 210 east." Other awesome things she says is like when you use one of those exits that has three mulitple sub-exits. She says, "Exit on your right, stay to the left."

We go boating on the weekends, and we usually leave in the evening, so most of the driving is done in the dark. I plug in the address to our Hotel, and She takes us all the way their. I miss a turn or pull over to eat. she re-routes me right back to my destination.

How about this? Does your trusty maps tell you where the next gas station is? Or the where the next ATM is? Or where there's someplace to eat?

Or how do you like re-routing around a traffic jam in an area you've never been in before or are not very familiar with?

The backup camera is awesome, unless you never backup, and find a big vehicle like the Armada difficult to see behind! How about hooking-up a trailer. The camera allows me to drive to the right spot for my trailer, on the first try.:2cool: or back down a boat ramp with an empty trailer with ease.

No, fact is the Tech Package on the Aramada is not a gadget you'll never use :dork: If your buying an LE already and spending 40k or more already, and you don't get this package....kind of like ? :duh:
