Hey everyone. Had my Armada about a week. My wife wanted the Infiniti for the name, I won and got the Armada for the style. We got it fully loaded except the push bar on the front and it has the graphite interior. I was going to get sand, but after seeing it, I didn't like the two tone look. However the satellite radio doesn't work (not picking up a signal). Service Dept seems to think it's the antenna, Sales guy says it is antenna placement next to the rearview that is obstructing signal. Who knows. Anyway, I've got big plans for my new ride. Trying to decide on billet or mesh grille. I've got some 22's picked out and I am getting a quote to chrome plate the door mouldings. I'm lovin it right now. We are dumping the minivan which was necessary with our twin girls, but they are about 3 now so it was time to move on up.

22's for my Armada

I don't like too much flash and bling. My taste is pretty conservative. I was looking at some Foose, Boss, Platinum, and a couple other wheels but decided (for now) on the Platinum HotShott 6. Simple style is what I'm going for. This is one of the dealers that has them (just an example). Now don't someone highjack my wheels before I get them either.

FL - would you post the information that you get about chrome plating the door moldings? I would love to that to mine. I have the Gold Armada and it really needs some chrome!! I had heard that it was either not possible to take them off and then put them back without damaging them or that the Chrome would wear off and look bad. I am really interested in what you find.
Many thanks!!

I swear I saw chrome door mouldings on a QX56 the other day, is that where you are getting the idea? If so, it seems the cheapest way is to order Infinity mouldings and have them installed (or DIY) instead of trying to refinish (big hassle IMO)

Not that easy

The QX56 comes standard with the chrome moulding down the door, but it also sits inside another body colored piece of moulding of some sort. Long story short, they are completely different parts. I wish it were a swap type of mod, but it isn't. I checked. The Nissan dealer says that the Armada door is a unique part number, which means that the door isn't even the same as the QX (maybe b.s), but that is what he told me. So my quest continues for the elusive chrome door moulding for the Armada. Even when I was cruisin my '92 Honda Accord EX coupe (5 speed on the floor) I wanted to chrome out the mouldings on that one too. Wife crashed it up before I could get it done though. Hopefully the same won't happen with the Armada. I love-di-ded that car :bonvoyage . If I can get it done I will let you guys know.

What's up homie

I grew up in Sicklerville. My parents are living in Williamstown now. I also used to work at the Pep Boys in Turnersville way way back in the day. Anyway, you're right S. Jersey is a different state. I'll be back in Jersey toward the end of next month for a few days. Nice to meet you. Let me know what you find out about the Infiniti door moulding. I'm waiting on a quote to vacuum coat them.

Pricy Chrome Molding

I've been communicating with about 4 different companies who say they can chrome, or metalize (big difference) plastic parts like the door molding. The vacuum metalizing is cheaper (but not too cheap). The top of the line "chrome" plating is down right expensive. Low to high prices range from $350 - clearcoated metalization to $1800 - show quality "real deal" chrome plating. And a couple in between. From the emails, don't know if I would be happy with the appearance of the metalized parts (too many visible imperfections). Now the fun begins, duking it out with the vendor :boxing: and getting the "good stuff" for cheaper. How many more are interested, maybe we can get a discount with a multi-lot order. :clever: How much would you be willing to pay to "bling out" your door molding properly.

NO 22's

FL Crushin: I've got some 22's picked out and I am getting a quote to chrome plate the door mouldings.

I would put the 22's back on the shelf. The 24's seems to fill out the fender well much better, w/o rubbing issues. Check mine out under my new intro post. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR QUEST.

jersey,
did you say that the QX doors were different? It looks at though the QX has a large side molding (body color) that the chrome strip fits into. Can the whole side molding be ordered with the chrome and will it fit on the Mada. I remember seeing somewhere that they wouldn't. Just want to confirm.
