My wife and I picked up our ’06 Armada in early February. I’ve been lurking here for about a month reading through the forums. I figured it was time to register.

We had been looking around for close to a year before finally making the decision to purchase a vehicle. Some of the vehicles we were looking at were the Yukon Denali XL, Toyota Sequoia, ¾ Yukon XL. I had known I always wanted the Armada, but convincing the wife was a bit more difficult. Her heart was set on the Denali because of the looks and the so called “luxury” of it. We went out and test drove the vehicles. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so let down about how a vehicle drove. She absolutely hated the way the Denali drove. Thankfully we drove the Toyota before hand. Long story short, we drove the Armada last and she fell in love.

As with most of the threads I’ve read we had special needs. We have a 275CCR Crownline boat (http://www.crownline.com/models/models.php?model=275_ccr) that weighs in at 6500 pounds. None of the other trucks could pull that type of weight except the ¾ ton and that wasn’t very appealing to either of us. I know that with the trailer we’ll be getting close to the max weight the truck can tow. For longer distances we have a Dodge 2500 diesel that we’ll be using. The boat is normally docked at our place, but we do several poker runs in the Summer with it.

The truck is an LE that is fully loaded (DVD, NAV, camera etc..). The wife wanted all the techie features and I wasn’t about to disagree. :) So far we’re enjoying it. I’m looking into purchasing the Prodigy brake controller, FOOSE rims, HIDS and some other goodies.

Thanks for all the information that all of you have contributed so far.

You definitely made the right decision. My sis-in-law has a Suburban; it isn't even close to our Armada. My neighbor has a Sequoia, the quality of the interior is nicer, it is quieter and rides nicer, but that's all that is better. I notice whenever we go anywhere together, he always suggests we take the Armada, and he always offers to drive!

Welcome!

My wife needed a little convincing before we settled on our Armada. She will sit in the back seat most of the time on short local runs, since my younger daughter likes to be the co-pilot when I drive ( she doesn't mind it back there with all that legroom ). But last October...we had a short trip to the San Francisco area for a wedding and she drove shortly after we got out of the city from the Pasadena area...well The Armada rode very smooth and steady, and I had to point out to her to slow it down, she was going 95mph!! She just commented that it didn't feel that fast and that the speedometer must be off. But I pointed out to her that the GPS also tracked her at 95 mph. It's a great traveling experience. Enjoy It! :p

Thanks! We're definitely enjoying it and looking forward to Summer so we can play with the boat again. We normally travel three hours to our place so the DVD system will be crucial. :)

So far I don't have any complaints other than the middle seat not being able to recline. We may go ahead and purchase the center piece...
