Hey Guys!

On a recent trip to Albuquerque, NM on Hwy 550 (terrible potholes and I hit several), I turned east on Unser Blvd. Soon the truck developed a vibration. No Service Engine light. Worse at idle, seems to follow the engine speed. Seems no affect on power. O'Reilly Auto Parts checked for codes, none. I filled the tank for the return trip. I imagined that the vibration lessened. Returned home. Following day, took to my mechanic. No Service Engine light, no codes, spark plugs look great. Added injection cleaner and sent me home with the advice to see what happens.

I am currently awaiting a fill-up and maybe more injection cleaner. Suggestions?

not much to go on here. so are you saying you hit a pothole? if you did, it could have loosened up something on the engine, or a wire harness could be loose, vacuum lines could be affected, etc etc. the mechanic you went to seems useless.

not sure how mechanically inclined you are but mabe open the hood and visibly look around and see if anything is loose or damaged.

A misfire would throw a code, I think. There is no sputter. Power seems unaffected.

I might describe the vibration like a wheel weight thrown, except, it's an engine vibration. Lost a balance weight on my fan or fan clutch? No clunk like an engine mount. Yeah, it's beyond my level of expertise.

The answer: A broken fan. Three blades were broken, possibly the shock from the potholes, 147,000 miles, possibly rough treatment with the radiator install. Once the serpentine belt was removed, the blade easily rotated heavy side to the bottom.
