Can a new hitch ball and mount cause a bad ground and the lights not to work well?

I went from a 2” drop ( on the X) to a 6” drop to keep the trailer level and now my lights are not working very well. I scuffed up the bar cleaned under the coupling and nothing. Any tips?

Check trailer wire harness

Isn't there a ground wire in trailer harness? I don't think the hitch ball is part of the wiring loop. I would check your trailer connector pins/sockets for good contact and dead critters (insects) in the sockets and that all the pins are in place and not pushed back in the connector(both have happened to me). Look at ground wire attachment point on trailer for good tight connection.
