Yeah sometimes does that to me too. Easiest way to be sure is to use the "back" button back to the new thread list. Have to backup through your new post until you get back to the list. Not ideal but it works.

It sounds like it is the only way to do it.

You are taking too long between posts. They new posts updates every few minutes. (15?). I hit back if I loose them.
