Hi Everyone,

Been having fun reading the posts so thought it would be a good idea to register. On our second Armada. First one (04 deep water blue, SE off road) totaled out in a wreck after 8 months of service. Performed so well in the collission (failure to yield right of way - other drivers fault) that we had no choice, but to replace with another Armada even though first one had a lot of the issues everyone else is having. What was I thinking...bought the first one in Nov 03 when they had just hit dealer showrooms. Replacement Armada (Silver, LE) was picked up in July 04 and has been a big improvement in the rattle and squeak area, but still has the brake problem and a couple minor issues. When I figure out how to post attachments I'll put a picture of the first one that totaled out so everyone can see how these puppies peform in a near head on wreck with another large vehicle...very safe.

I'll get over to the problems section and post about the last remaining knock we have (drivers door window) and one the dealer fixed that we could not figure out (radiator cap rubbing hood).

Looking forward to the interaction on this site.

Glad to have you here, Gergo. That's a tough way to get a new Armada! Hope there wern't any injuries in the wreck. Keep us up to date on any problems or mods.

Welcome!

Welcome to clubarmada!

Please do post some pics...hope everyone was ok! I was glad to read that they've improved on the squeaks and rattles- I bought mine in Feb. of '04 (built in Nov '03) and it's been a rattle trap from day one.

adjmcloon and scr38,

Here is the one picture I have of the aftermath, and, yes, everyone in both vehicles were OK, thankfully. You can see part of the other truck in the photo (red pick up). Basically, the red truck turned left into an intersection in front of the Armada and got hit right near corner/wheel on passenger side. Just a teenage kid that was not paying attention. I was not in the car, but my wife and three kids walked away with some soreness from the seat belts and impact, but nothing else. The cabin in the Armada is a rock. You could sit in the car after the wreck and other than the drivers airbag (very small by the way) being deployed you would not know the car was destroyed.

At first the insurance company wanted to try to straighten the frame and repair this vehicle, but then they realized that the battery had sprayed acid all over the entire engine compartment so they had to total it out which was best case for us. Got a new one with a few more bells and whistles.

It doesn't look like the pickup even crumpled the hood and the whole front of the Armada.....well the photo is worth a 1000 words. No wonder my insurance premium went way up from the Xterra if they are designed to create that much damage absorbing an impact. Its good to hear that the cheap interiors are only skin deep and the rest holds up well under impact.

Sheez, that's some serious sheet metal damage. I'm glad to hear your wide and kids were okay. That was the primary reason I decided to get the armada and not a smaller SUV.

I agree with you on the big vehicle factor. There are so many large turcks and SUV's out there today that you gotta think about it when you are shopping for the family rig.
