In my Car & Driver this month they have the "first drive" for a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. They go through their usual bs about SUV's, blah, blah, blah.

I of course am looking to see how it compares with my 06 Armada. I skip to the back where they compare vehicles against their 3 main competitors and they have listed:

Ford Expedition
Toyota Sequoia
Dodge Durango (???? No Armada and they pick a smaller SUV that is more a competitor of the Pathfinder IMO)

Anyways, the Tahoe looks like a big improvement over the last version, the interior looks very nice to me. The Armada is still much faster no matter what the HP specs of the Tahoe. 320 hp and only 8.5 sec -- 0-60mph...

Its amazing to me that the Armada wasn't in the comparison.

They probably went with the 3 that had the largest sales.

Not amazing to me:
1. They could be going with the highest sales numbers
2. They could be going with the SUV's that have been in the running for a lot longer then the Armada has been out
3. More likely they are very BIAS towards certain brands. Common, you think GM wouldn't pay to have their brand NEW (hoping to get them out of bankruptcy) vehicles look better in the spotlight. I always take whatever those magazines say with a grain of salt anyway.

New Tahoe looks better then the old ones, but how could it not improve?? Let’s see, GM has had the old body style for what, 10 years now!! They still feel like and handle like ****. Just like my friends Blazers, Tahoe's and Suburbans. Bouncy crappy riding SUV's with no UMPH!

I actually hope the new Tahoe is a great truck if for nothing else but our countries sake and for the employees. I have no desire to have GM go out of business and put even more people out of work. Even though my last GM was a POJ, I don't hate them, I would buy another one if they can get their act together again, and I hope they do give me a reason. I buy the best value products my hard earned money can buy, no matter who makes it or where it is made. If GM turns things around and does it better than anyone else I'll be back. I think brand loyalty can be an ignorant thing sometimes.

I totally agree. If they could raise their quality, reliabilty, design and look of the truck. I won't mind being the owner of the truck.
I used to own a Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ). When we were shopping for a new SUV, I looked at the new design Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK) again and it just turned me off. Even though it has bigger engine than before (HEMI !!!!), the look and quality is not there anymore. We ended with ARMADA !!! :)

I skipped the new grand. I was willing to sacrifice some space, etc. for the off road capability. When it came out independent suspension on the front, it became just another midsize suv. Good for marketing and sales, but bad for off roaders and jeep enthusiasts. They may sell more to soccer moms, but they ticked off all the jeep faithful. Most of them are now saying strike two after the liberty debacle. ;)

Well it seems to me that the new Tahoe is a better truck for now but it seems to me that the Japanese are going to do to the American Truck Market what they did to the car market and electronic market and they are now building a majority of their cars in america like the titan and the armada even the germans are building their cars in america it seems to me GM was in a hurry to get a truck to market to bring in money yes it has improvements but how long will they last with a new sequoia and a new expedition on the horizon not to mention the armada GM's mistake was not shifting when the market shifted the bottom line is the it takes product to make money and good product that people want and right now its trucks and rear drive cars

Gm thought they could stand with what they have and its not going to work i hope they make the new camaro and bring back a real GTO that will help

I'm going to the LA Auto Show this afternoon, one of the vehicles I really want to see is the the new Tahoe.

I get my vehicles because they are the best. I have zero brand loyalty and I've owned cars from 7 different manufacturers. I could also care less if I have the only one in town or there's one in every driveway in my neighborhood. I still have the best out there, that's all that matters. Domestic sales are propped up by misplaced patriotism and prejudice against imports. Just a matter of time they are as dominant in Full Size trucks/SUVs. Remember, even the Accord and Civic sold bad at first. ;)

The new Tahoe is nice. The interior is so much better than before. They had the old style Suburban as well, so it was easy to compare, and it was amazing. Not as much room as our Armada's, and still no fold flat seats in the back, but the dash is nice, good fit and finish, and lots of features. If I were in the market, I would go and drive one, which I can't say about the previous generation.
