Not the Dreaded Fuel Milage?

LOL...not to restart an already dead horse, but I *did* check my mileage for the first time in my only 1400 miles. My girlfriend and I made about a 210 mile round trip to her parents house, consistenting of 90% highway/freeway/2 lane stuff and 10% in town. I used 12 gallons to travel 211 miles, which by my calculations is 17.58 mpg. Now that isn't too bad! Oh and did I mention one very hard (held 2nd and 3rd gears at near redline) passing maneuver and one not as aggressive pass, which I thought would trash my mileage, but it didn't do it too bad. Which leads me to believe, that once I get the VolantG3/Gibson package installed and behaved myself, I bet I could easily get 18mpg on the highway.

Just my $.02/worth

Happy Thanksgiving!

yo dude; i am also waiting for my volant g3 from socal to install. also ordered from them the borla dual exhaust. can't wait. in the meantime i am applying a red burl wood dash kit from burtmann industries. will tackle this weekend after i digest my duck. yeah, i spared a turkey today. what other mods are you looking to do. on my list is a billet front grill and some new rims. can't decide on 22's vs 20's. Tires for the 22's are alot more.

22" are more street than anything else. More flexibility with 20" due to more rubber on the edges giving you more cushion for curbs, potholes, rocks, etc. They are also lighter, cheaper, softer riding, and can tow more. They will handle slightly less, but then, the 20" will be markedly better than stock handling, and they are a little different looking. I get plenty of looks with 20" so you will still impress.
Yup...I was trying to just get into passing gear quickly and she dropped 2 gears and shop up to 5k, and pretty much stayed there for 2 gears! This baby is going to ROCK even more once I get the CAI/Gibson...Gibson to be installed over the weekend ;-)

This is one rev happy v8!!! Am liking it!

Have others seen an increase in MPG with these mods.? I've been holding out to get mods I only have 1700 miles. I also plan on SC, but need to wait a while.
Have not checked it lately with the CAI and Gibson...I did check it with Gibson only and it was the exact same. Now with the CAI installed, I would imagine I might get 1 mpg more, but certainly negated by the fact that I accelerate harder now (just too dang much fun listening to it!) that my net mpg is less. ;-)

I think SCR or someone made a good point in another thread...that the mileage didn't increase, but alas...you have great sound, increase power and performance...and yet the milage didn't decrease either! :D

Well I like the sound of that. If I'm going to get "bad" gas milage I might as well have fun doing it.

Thanks,

JG
Checked it again...this time in town driving, pretty hard accelerations, etc...and start/stops. Got almost...ALMOST 11 mpg. ;-)

Gotta pay to play!
