I just read here that someone had problems with their Armada AC. I purchased an Armada in August and I noticed the same thing. Considering I live in Colorado and I noticed it makes me wonder what it'll be like when I drive to Texas?

Is this a known issue and what should I do to get the dealer to fix it. Can he fix it or is it a design flaw?

Thanks!

There is a TSB on this. Let the dealer know you are having problems. It seems to turn off if you aren't moving. ;)

Thanks for the heads up on the AC problem.

Any idea of what actually causes this? I couldn't believe I bought a monster SUV with bad a air conditioner. I hope the fix is a permanent one and not a tie over till the warranty expires.

Thanks!

My take on it.

I think it has to do with the more environmentally friendly coolant called Puron that the industry is being forced to go to. Does anyone know if Nissan is using this stuff?

I mentioned to the service advisor when I brought my MADA for service two weeks ago. They ended did not fix my AC since it was pretty cool around Octorber and early November (60-70s) and they could not reproduce the problem. I guess I have bring it in again in summer next year.

I don't think it's the chemical as other new cars don't have the problem. I could tell right away there was something wrong with the AC when I first started to use it. It was real weak. The air blew ok, just not cold.

Thanks...

Not saying that anything is wrong with the chemical, just that it may not be as efficient as the old stuff, therefore, making it perform a little worse with the right conditions. I'm sure if they would have made the AC twice as big, you wouldn't know the difference, but with the current design and size, maybe it is hovering right on the line of effectiveness. Most probably are well oversized for the vehicle.

As stated (exactly) on my invoice from a dealership in Scottsdale (which was fixed at no charge and fixed voluntarily when I'd taken it in for an oil/brake replacement):

"A/C warm at idle warr at idle and idling for some time a/c will shut off. Performed bulletin replaced a/c fan assembly, fan clutch and reprogrammed ECM."

They don't really use complete sentences at Nissan, but as long as they fix the broken stuff, I don't care.

I had the A/C TSB done last week, and let me tell you it works! My wife and I got frozen out on a recent weekend trip. It's still pretty warm down here in Texas (mid-80's). Also the new fan is very nice (much quieter) and I've noticed the the air blows out a good bit harder than it used to.

FYI
