OBD2 "P codes" should be P plus 4 digits. Are you sure it's not C1179, which is a manufacturer code and applies to brakes? There's a TSB which addresses that. (That one is for Nissan Armada, I couldn't find the Infiniti version, which should be ITB06-011)

making a terrible sound when braking
When brake pads are worn, the wear indicators will cause a very noticeable grinding/squealing sound.

Sorry Mike, you are absolutely correct its C1179, it really freaks out my wife, she says it feels like it will not stop, but everytime she would pull over, turn engine off and restart and everything is back to normal, i think its called Delta Stroke sensor, 2 of them under the brake master cylinder which i replaced, ofcos after market, oem is bout $200.
It only has 123k, and luv the Qx56, dont want to have to get rid of it because of this issue. Brakes are safety issue, Nissan/Infiniti should take care of it as a recall

Read the TSB I linked to, it covers your year - the fix is having the dealer reprogram the ABS controller. From that, I'd guess it's incorrectly sensing and reporting that error, and it's not really a problem with the vacuum booster.

I wouldn't rely on that outdated TSB. Reprogramming the VDC didn't fix the notorious brake issues related to the C1179 DTC. The delta stroke sensor is inside the brake booster and it required replacing the entire brake booster to eliminate braking problems. Just Google or search on here about Nissan getting sued, late recalls in regards to the C1179 DTC.

The only fix is to replace the brake booster.

Thank you so much guys, thats alot of info to guide me in the right direction, really appreciate it.
Doubt Infiniti will fix it as a recall but i will gather some info, and give them a call, one more thing,if were to replace the booster, does it have to be Oem or i can use an after market one.

Nissan is notorious for their short timeframes regarding recalls. In other words, some, if not most will never get notified by Nissan. I’m pretty sure just about every aftermarket brake booster available are remanufactured. Nothing wrong with reman’d parts but for this particular part, I’d stick to Nissan OEM.
