I thought you were going to say it stopped working all together.
I had my 06 for about a week. I left the rear glass on the hatch popped and did not know it due to the fact that the light switch was in the "off" position back there.
The gate would not close when hitting the button or with the remote. Hilarity ensued when I figured the whole thing out
