The best I could find for snow specific tires is the Blizzak DM-Z3. It comes in 265/60 QR18

Little shorter than stock at 30.6 vs. 32.8" but its the tallest snow tire I can find. You could also try an A/T or M/T tire. The Nittos come in 285/60/18, again al little short at 31.4" but not bad. http://www.nittotire.com/tires_terragrappler.asp

I have always had studded snows for all my cars also. Bummed that I could not find any purpose built snow tires that accept studs, or as you found out any purpose built snow tires that are at least the stock size. I did some research and found some guys that race motorcycles on ice and they were describing purchasing a tire studding gun and making their own studded tires. 
For the hard core out there, you could probably track down where rally drivers get their studded tires and have a custom set made $$.
Back to earth, BF Goodrich T/A KO is rated for extreme winter conditions, which is a step above M+S rating. You can also have tires cut with extra siping, creating more square edges to grip snow and ice with. Discount Tire told me this would be about $50 total for all 4 tires. Depending on how these Contis do I may be rushing out to get something better. Terragrapplers look like they have a good open tread for snow, but not sure how well they grip in cold conditions.

stock conti's
the stock Conti's are terrible, get rid of them now. I was in some storms headed to VT last winter skiing and never felt so nervous behind the wheel. I have Conti's on my Audi and they are a fantastic tire. Nissan missed the boat by putting this size and such a crappy tire on this truck. I put on Michelin Cross Terrains..praying for snow to test out the new shoes!!
