my 2011 Armada back door handle is broken:

I got a new one (Amazon.com: XtremeAmazing Rear Tailgate Door Handle for Armada 2004-2015 : Automotive ) and I am trying to install it.

This is what I am seeing inside the back compartment:

it looks like a white filling taped with some black adhesive… shall I remove it?

or can i just unscrew the door lock and the handle would come off?

Look at attachment. You won't need to do step one if you don't have the powered hatch.

gott pry the clips off. there are a bunch of them and you may end up breaking the plastic clip thingys. you can get some from the dealer or online like fleabay or amazon for example.

I think I got pretty far with the clips but the higher end is still connected and I didn't want to force it.

I think the problem is my back window isn't opening.

the door finisher on the inside is held on by clips. they are difficult to remove. i did it once when i installed the camera housing style handle many years ago.

Today I removed the white cover (it has sticky stuff and can reattach it later). You can probably work with it but it gets int he way in my opinion so I took it off.

About the plastic cover, just pull gently. I was able to take it off without breaking any pins.

Installing the new handle was a pain, the old one had plastic (or silicon maybe?) stuck in one of the bolts so it was hard. Once all the cable were disconnected, I had to wiggle it to from the inside in a certain way and finally it got out.

Anyways, I installed the new handle I'll open a new thread about the back camera since it doesn't fit quite right but the view is the same as in the past so I'll try to fix the gap to avoid rain getting in.

BONUS: fix of the back window not opening

I was able to fix the the hatch window (it has to be open to remove the back cover). You can probably change the hatch handle without removing the back cover but it was easier to have it out of the way.

It's really simple to fix. See the left pink connector?

You just need to put the cable inside (like the right one).

And the hatch handle for the window will work.
