Whatabout control of the DVD player. Can the DVD remote control be used through the rooftop ir eye?
Depends on your set up. On mine I can, even though the dvd player is in the center console I have 2 IR port, one goes straight to the overhead screen and one goes to the front of the truck.

It'll be easier to just run the IR eye that comes with your player to wherever you want it. You could run it to the rear controls and try and install it behind the factory window. On mine the tinted window cover pops off so I could if I wanted to stick the receiver in the factory spot. I have mine set at the bottom of the dash on the center console though so I can use the remote from the front seat.

PRE wire harness?

what color is the prewire harness thats under this shifter section? i took mine off just now and i see a brown harness to the bottom right. also i have the dealer installed myron and davis. and i see they hooked up a myron and davis FM mod to the DVD output RCA's. but they didnt hook up the ground wire so im sure thats not working. so it would seem i can use the FM radio to hear DVD sound but they didnit tell me that!the wires i see thats comoing out of the DVD are INPUT wires.. i guess for a PSP, etc... so this makes thigns interesting ..

but.. back to the original question... is the brown harness the prewire????

EDIT!!

well the FM mod DOES work. its a 4 channel modulator. i dont know why it has an extra ground wire coming out of it... anyway.. the point remains the dealer didnt tell me i had FM mod hokoed up to the DVD player output...

now back to the harness.. in the back of the chufter area, i see a white harness to the right and its held in place by two plastic things (i guess these are rivets?) and there is a place on the left side for anoter set of "rivets" but there is no harness there.. just on the right.. so i take it thats where the DVD harness ahould be? so what is the brown one for?

The harness you want should be on the left. I think the brown harness is the M64 which matchs to the M202 shown in the attached diagram. You don't sound like you have the audio pre wire. Not a big deal just pull the HU and add the wires to the harness at the back of the HU.

Alright, Let me try this. I am SOOOO lost. I have an '04 Mada with factory Nav & DVD. I'm trying to find the VTR OUT + & VTR OUT - wires so I can tap into them to run up to my Nav screen. But I have searched & Searched & can't for the life of me find & figure out which two wires I need to tap. I have pulled the factory DVD player out & in the center console, there are two different plugs - A blue one & a grey one. Can anyone out there help me figur out which wires I need to tap to get the VTR feeds? Please help. I have this whole project torn apart, and I thought it would be easier to figure out than it has been thus far. I have been taking pictures all along, and when I'm done, I will post a real nice tutorial for others. But please - someone help me figure out which wires to tap. Thanks in advance.

If installing the Mryon Davis DVD overhead player do you need to add a pie line amp?
Even though you've been a member for awhile, Welcome to the Club!!!

HU = Head Unit. You'll want to add the PIE LD-1. If you don't it will be quieter than it should be then you'll get a little blast when changing to CD or Radio kinda like the Infomercials while watching a good movie on TV.

...Do you know the thread that shows how to install the amp line?.....
There's nothing to it. As you can see from this link, it's just Power with Right/Left RCA Audio In and Right/Left RCA Audio Out. You'll just want to keep it close to your DVD Player so that it has a good signal to boost from.

Dvd install

I am new to the site(great site by the way), I read the thread on wiring a aftermarket dvd audio into the factory head unit and tried it, however I have the fes and audio on tied together but the head unit still says no disc. Any thoughts? This is on a 2007 Armada. Thanks for any help or ideas.

Welcome to the Club!!!! Does it really say "No Disc"?? Mine said "No DVD". First thing I did was jumper the FES Enable to Audio On and then I could select DVD even though nothing else was connected yet. I know your radio buttons are different then mine but I have to hold the Rear AV button for a couple Secs to get it to switch to DVD.

If yours has the dedicated DVD button and you're getting "No Disc", that's the first I've heard of that. I'm sure the others have an answer but I'll see if I can find anything too.
