My headunit has on button that says CD/DVD, that's the one when I push it , it says no disc. Does this help?
Yes, that helps. That really sounds like it's looking for a CD instead of a DVD. Have you tried holding it for a few Secs?? Does it say anything in the Owner's Manual about how to select DVD for the factory system??

I have tried holding it down for a few seconds but makes no difference. I have not looked at the manual but I'm going to tonight as well as removing the radio and double checking again the wiring. I will let you know if I come up with anything. Thanks again.

My M&D 8.5 LCD/DVD Install--2007 SE

Just for the record, I just completed our install of a M&D 8.5 LCD with DVD using the instructions on this site...and particularly in this thread.

We have the Bose Sound System without NAV (or entertainment) in our 2007 SE. We did have the Harness in our Console as described in this thread.

I actually purchased the dvd console pocket and brackets as suggested and used it in the install. We added a Composite Video AUX to the rear console just below the lighter as a second source. We've already tested it with a Video iPod and it works perfectly too!

Everything works! We have blasting sound from the whole sound system. The steering wheel controls work, the front and rear controls still work exactly as factory, and the dvd remote works through the factory IR to control everything.

Personally, I am amazed.

However, I need to disconnect the Monitor IR to eliminate interference in the wireless headphones...I have verified that covering the IR emitters on the LCD eliminates the interference (and the headphones then sound great!), but what is the best/easiest way to accomplish this permanently? I don't really want to CUT any wires, but what are my options...

PLUG: I purchased my M&D stuff from tech12volt right at New Year's--great price and he graciously worked with me to get superfast shipping so that I could get the install done last weekend--THANKS, James!

Slight problem! Unplugging that harness did indeed solve the IR interference...but...

It also disables the IR *reception* through the panel. Now I have to open the console to use the remote.

I know the dvd player comes with a remote IR receiver, but I didn't hook it up originally because the LCD receiver worked. Now that harness appears to disconnect BOTH IR transmission and reception...

Anyone know *which* wires in that harness control what? I really want to use the IR target on the LCD rather than the aftermarket target that comes with the dvd player...

The remote has a seperate receiver on mine, it's a little White Dot on the Monitor. Is it on yours too??

Another thing, does the Power Light on your Monitor shine red when the player and monitor are both turned off??

Yes, but it is right below the row of red emitters...

No, I don't think so. The dvd player's remote control does control the monitor (it has a separate on/off for the player and the monitor).

Before I disconnected the IR harness, the remote worked fine with the console closed...so I am sure it was being received through the monitor's receiver (apparently the built-in IR is one-way only).

Now...it doesn't. Typically, I think receivers and transmitters are "opto-isolated"...so I assume some of the wires in the harness do one thing, and others another...I just don't know which ones.

If the Monitor is being powered by the DVD Player, you'll have to turn the player on before you can turn the monitor on and neither Remote will work unless the Player is turned on. The Monitor's Power should be wired directly into a power source instead of to the Blue wire coming from the player.

If there's no red light on the monitor when it's all turned off but it's there when the DVD Player is on (monitor still off) then that might be a cause.

Well, I will have to check it this evening again, but my recollection is that the remote will turn either or both the player and monitor own separately regardless of the status of the other (the monitor is wired directly to power). I don't really recall a red light.

Need Help, Want to know how to wire stock rear dvd

 I have just installed a New Pioneer AVIC-D3 and a Myron and Davis ANS190 9.0" Flipdown TFT/LCD Monitor for 2005. I got the radio and rear monitor working but, I would also like to connect the radio and new monitor to the original Rear DVD Player. But the original rear dvd has a wire harness and not a RCA connection and I don't know wire it. I Also would like to know how to wire the steering will remote controll and rear head remote controll so i can control the radio from the steering wheel and the overhead controller? (if you have instructions with picture, it would be preferable) Thank you.

ZACZOENIK:confused:

I think that Pioneer has a seperate module that can be purchased to make the steering wheel controls work. I think this might also make the rear controls work too but that's just a blind guess and I have no way of knowing for sure.

As for the OEM DVD connect, there have been some threads posted about connecting an OEM Player to an aftermarket Monitor and those should work for you. I'm too lazy run the search and post links right now because it's getting late.

I have two headrest mopnitors I just boughtg for an 04 Armada that came without the DVD player on monitor. I purchased the monitors along with a 1/2 DIN DVD player and need to mount them all.

I would like to know how you would go about running the wire down the seats and how to hook up the player to the car speakers? I would prefer the player to be in the arm rest console how do you get the wires up in there and where is the best place to jump tout 12V constant, Remote and ground from?

I haven't been on here for a while but llajumpvid post number 2 on this same thread is some of the best info you can get. Try and pick the meat out of his post and then if you need more detail, ask some more. Everyone on here is real helpful.

After you get underneath the console you hit solid metal and you can ground pretty easy there. There are a few different screws in there just don't loosen up the vdc giro.

here is a link to some pics from my install. I too put the dvd player in the console and riveted in in upright. Using the rivets may have not been the best choice if I have to rip it out after gas hits $6.00/ gallon.

I was able to get to the harness behing the HU and hook up every all rca negs and pos wires on their respected pins. I jumpered the FES and AUDIO ON pins. When it was all complete I did a test and was uinable to get any sound form the car speakers.

When I try to get DVD on the stereo I see "NO VIDEO" on the stereo.. I would like to know what I did wrong and if I did the correct thing with connectiong FES to AUDIO ON.
