285-50-22 will have less than 1/4" more sidewall than 305-45-22. Not worth worrying about. Get the extra tread/traction or go to 20s for more sidewall.FL_Crushin said:

Does any tire maker have a 285/50/22. I want the 22's but would prefer just a bit more tire on them. I haven't had any luck finding any. Will probably just have to go with the 305/45/22's.

Get the 22's

Go for the 22's. i just got 305/45/22 NItto 420S tires and I was expecting a harsh ride. Was I wrong! The difference is nominal but the steering and handling is crisper. There is no rubbing issue and in my opinion fills out the wheel well much better than the 20's.
