Hi,

I am new to this board but not new to all the rattles that most of us have. Two monts after purchasing my Armada the drivers door started to rattle then the passanger door and now the sunroof. The dealer didn't make thing better; after leaving the dealer ther rattles became ever louder.

I have seen a lot of do it yourself tips on how to eliminate these problems. I think that it's greate that we can can help one another and come up with these solutions, but why can't nissan do it.

After doing some research i found a usefull website that gives a lot of tips on how to handle these types of situations.

check it out: http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?did=550&scid=98

if we all start complaining someone will listen.
let me know what you think?

Been There

Many of us have been there (and some still are there) with the rattles.

Do a search on this forum and you'll find a ton of rattle complaints and subsequent fixes.

One of the main ones for me was the weatherstripping rattles. Yes, that's right, weatherstripping. If you've got rattles from your doors that sound like they're coming from the tops of the doors and are sort of a clacking noise, this could be it. The weatherstripping compresses enough to allow the doors to make noise. Two fixes for this, tighten up your hinges, and apply some felt tape between the weatherstripping and the body.

I've had mine in the dealer numerous times and they always blamed it on my aftermarket stereo install, which was total b.s. I never could get them to fix rattles really- I ended up doing it myself. Sucks, but that's the reality. I really let Nissan have it on my JD Power survey (both of them, actually) I would suggest that anyone do the same thing. Maybe if they tank on the surveys they'll actually improve.

Anyway, Check out this thread for more info, pictures and instructions:

thanks for the info.

Thanks for website info. I just filed a complaint. Major rattles in both driver side and passenger door, horrible steering wheel shaking (6,000 miles only on truck), homelinks won't work, dvd player replaced, fuel gague stuck on full....I'm thinking about getting rid of this piece fo crap!

I've come to the conclusion that I will never be totally "rattle free" and the best I can hope for is "rattle diminished". I've got them for the most part down to a level I can live with. But every few mornings there is a new one show up for a period of time.

No doubt! I've been rattle chasing literally every other weekend since I bought it back in February of '04. I think the newer models might be a little better, and I've managed to get probably 90% of mine gone.

I would hope that by '06 they will get to the smaller things like rattles (although they're not small when you're dealing with them) and the Armada will really be sweet then. We'll see...

I'd be interested to hear from '05 owners with 10k miles or so how they're faring in the rattle department.

In my experience on getting action from Nissan, they've actually been pretty helpful. I bet once you get past the red tape you'll get some satisfaction. It's a pity some of us are having issues because other than the problems, this really is a great vehicle with regard to other areas like power, towing, and head-turning factor. :)

I have an 05 LE with only 3200 miles on it. It has rattles since 300 miles. My build date is november 04 though. ARGH! :( I have brought it in twice to have the drivers side rattle fixed. This second time as you have read in my other thread in the general discussions, they repllaced the whole seal surrounding the window. They didn't replace the inside door runner though. It still makes the same damn rattles! haha :( I'm going to figure out how to take the door apart and fix the damn thing myself! GRR!!!

Even with all these rattles, I'd rather drive this than any SUV out there. My friend has one and his interior look like it's from the 80s. It's not as cool as mine. His is rattle free though :(

I'll fix this rattle! It will not beat me! Either that or i just turn the radio up..heh.

rattles are driving me crazy!

O.K. I've seen a lot of tips on how to fix door rattles and love the helpful tips on this website. Dynamat for rattle problems seems like a good cure. I have had my 2004 Armada in three times and I finally contacted consumer affairs to complain (this was after a broken DVD, replacement of brakes, replacement of fuel gauge, etc). They are going to contact a special tech to see if they can solve my on going rattle issue...claims they have never heard of such difficulties before. I have had the runners replaced and new insulation placed in the door panels. Has anyone approached their dealers with any ideas such as Dynamat, etc? These rattles are driving me so crazy I was going to trade the 2004 in for a 2005 but I'm just not impressed with Nissan's service (after a sale they don't want to hear from you anymore........). Thanks for any input! :clueless:
