Thought I would share some pics of my new 2017 Chevy SS I got this afternoon. Traded in the Maxima and got a very fair deal on the SS. The SS seems to be a very solid ride and I cannot wait to break it in so I can do some full throttle runs. I really like the understated "sleeper" look, and the brakes and suspension are excellent. Surprisingly, the ride is more compliant than my Maxima with Sport package was, which I was not expecting. Has a really cool dual mode exhaust too, which changes sound level/tone of exhaust with turn of dial in center console. Very excited!

Nice. Congrats on your upgrade.

As far as performance, I would love to know more. I remember seeing that this car is a V8 with 415 horses. Is that how all the SS come from factory?

Well, with those specs, I expect nothing but performance from than engine.

Would love to know long term update on performance and ride quality.

I don't know if you know the Pontiac G8. Something tells me that is it being brought back.

Also, if you know the European based Vauxhall VXR8.

The Vauxhaull VXR8 = Pontiac G8 which seems it is now called or say = Chevy SS.

I really like the Chevy SS......too bad this is the last year for it. Hope you got a great deal, I was seeing ads for 20% off MSRP on them. I wouldn't mind having one with the manual transmission.

I was not even in the market for a new car as the Maxima has been an excellent vehicle, and I usually keep cars at least 6 years. However, I have always been a fan of the Australian Holden rear drive sedans, to the days before the G8. I was not in a position to purchase the G8 GT or GXp back then and then Pontiac folded. I always liked the SS but was not going to pay 50k for my commuter car back in 2014 when they came out. Instead I got a smoking deal on my Maxima instead (40k sticker for just over 30k). Then, last week, I saw the 20% off the SS, which made it a 40k car, and I made the jump!

Petit- as far as performance, all SS's have an LS3 6.2 liter v8, with 415hp and 415lb ft. It has Brembo brakes with 14 inch rotors all around. It also has magnetic ride control. Mine will likely never see a drag strip, but they seem to run 0-60 in the mid to high 4's. Quarter mile times range from the high 12's to the low 13's stock. Trap speeds seem to range from 107-111mph. Bottom line is, it is more than quick enough for me! Despite the raw power, it is actually very mild mannered just driving it around town.

UPDATE- Passed the first break in period at 621 miles. Was finally able to open it up a bit. All I can say is WOW! This thing flies.

Just got Xpel Clearbra installed to save the paint. Very clean install with barely discernible lines. Wish I would have known about these systems when we purchased the Armada.

ANOTHER UPDATE

Have since added 45% ceramic tint all around and Michelin X-ice snow tires on Enkei rims. Looks very sinister now compared to the ugly stock rims.
