Quick question on putting on a trailer hitch. I went to U-Haul to purchase the hicth which was very easy to put on, but now I'm a touch confused on how to set up the electrical and how to get electricity to my plugs (do I need relays for the trailer brakes and a constant power/charge wire, info from U-haul) (or do I need a Wiring Harness Kit from CourtesyParts.com).

Thanks,

I got my Armada with the tow package -- so not clear on this ...but just before I got my ARmada...I had just finished doing the same thing to my Jeep Grand Cherokee -- and I would recommend the OEM hitch...not a cheap Uhaul hitch. It would have been night and day -- and I stress tested that OEM hitch with a 6500lb boat on an 18hr round trip to Nag's Head...and it held up just fine...but the Jeep was dying a slow death -- hence the Armada. I guess it depends on what you're planning on towing...

Regarding the electronics...that's another reason to get the OEM equipment...it will come with good instructions...but if I get a second tonight...I'll look in the service manual to see what I can find.

Boeckers,

Like EightmanVT, I can only speak to Armada's with the Tow package.

With the Tow Package, Nisssan provides a wire harness that plugs in under the dash and you connect the other wire ends to an Electronic Brake Controler (purchased elsewhere). All the required wires are prerun to the 7-pin trailer plug at the rear.

I do not know what if any of this is done on models without the tow package. However Nissan parts does lists the harness available at $8. So maybe the wires are already run ..... maybenot.

Hopefully someone else knows a bit more.

:D I just purchased a brand new 2004 armada and went back to the dealer to buy the hitch and found out that you don't need to buy the wiring. It's already installed. You have to look for it right at the end of the chassis on the driver side. At least that's where I found mine! I hope that is also your case. If not Uhaul sells the quick connect for about $45.00 but they charge $90.00 total if they install it. Don't fall for this. It only takes two minutes total to find the connector and install it.
