When we bought our used 04 Armada LE, the dealer registered it as a truck. Said because it was over 6000 GVRW it was a truck. The registration took forever (we bought it in Feb, just got the plate today) and finally we got a note in the mail with a new plate and registration card saying they goofed and it should have been a car plate.

I can't find anything online for Pennsylvania which says when a car becomes a truck so to speak. Weight wise, both in curb weight and gross weights, it's similar to an F-150 truck, so I'm surprised that it's not a truck, I guess.

Are the rest of you registered as cars (I realize this probably varies state to state)?

Car or Truck

Up Here we have a choice, but beacuse SUVs are basically family transpo. they all end up having Passenger Plates.

WE have to register all other Pick ups, cargo vans, etc as commercial vehicles with note on the lisence and plate that they they are not used primarily for commercial purposes.

And if the vehicle can put 10 000 lbs (gross combined vehicle weight) on the road it needs a safety inspection every year.

overall its better to lisence as a passenger vehicle unless forced to otherwise, just to avoid hassles
