Updating Navigation and replacement CD

Hi all,

I have a question that I hope someone can answer.
The used 2004 LE I purchased did not have the original Navigation CD in the manual case. The previous owner says that I should be able to get the Nav updated at the dealer. However, the dealer hasn't heard of this before and says to even replace the CD that came with the car originally is over $200.
Does anyone know anything about this? I guess I can live without the newest roads etc. but if the Nav stops working, I don't have the disks to reload it.

Also, I will need to purchase new tires in the very new future and the dealer is quoting me about $700 for the OE Goodyear Wrangler tires. Does this seem high? I am not thrilled with the ride the OE's are giving but I don't want to spend $1k for tires since I also want to put on new rims.

Any suggestions?
Rhonda

Go to discount tire or America tire or even www.tirerack.com to get your tires. Dont EVER go to the dealer to replace them.
Tell the dealer that your NAV has been freezing up and acting weird. They wil update under warranty for free.
Buying tires at a dealer is like going to a movie theatre to buy candy when a Walmart is next door. Discount tire has your tires for $124 each. This is $600 installed for all 4. Dealers are the worst place to buy tires. Tirerack has the standard 2005 tires, Continentals, on sale for $107 each. Or, you could buy someones who just put new wheels on their Armada/Titan and have minimal miles on their original tires. Mine have 1200 miles. Also check Costco, BJs Wholesale, Sam's club, etc. that you have near by. I got a good deal on some Bridgestones for my girlfriend's Jetta there. Just an idea.

Also, if you are doing rims, do the rims and tires now. I looked at tires for my mada and found I couldn't get what I want in the size I wanted (285-60-18) so I went with rims and tires. In the process I got better handling, better wet/snow/off-road traction, and they are just as quiet as stock. Rims and tires cost $2200 installed. If you don't have the money for this now, I'd get the Contis and save up.

Nav and tires - Thanks for the help guys..

Yea, I was going to check other places. I thought that sounded high and I really don't like the tires that came with the car.
I did go to Tire Rack site but when I search by vehicle and curent size (265/70-18) it said they didn't have any for that vehicle. Discount only showed the same tire I aleady have and Micheline said they didn't have any. Maybe I need to change the tire size when I get new wheels. I didn't think that 265/70-18's were unusual size tires.

Anyway, I will keep looking. Thanks for your help!!

The Navigation DVD would be found in the DVD Rom located under the front passenger seat, not in the Manual Case. I do not even believe the Nav System would be working if the disk weren't already there.

Vehicle search is inaccurate. Here's your stock Goodyears from Tirerack for $116.

Lexus wanted $400 to update from 2001 to 2004
But got it for free under warranty
RE Nav CD

Ok - I think I get it now. I just thought there was a CD or DVD in the manual case becuase there seems to be a spot for a disk there. Yes it is working thus far. Just thougth something was missing from the car manual to reboot the nav system.
Thanks for the explaination!!
