Sorry im so late on presenting this inormation but here is the problem and the so called presented solution.

Last Thursday while driving home at 70mph I was alerted by the dash idiot lights warning me that the VDC was off, Slip light was on(no ice present) and the ABS light was also on. Also i notice that the dash had alerted me that suddenly I was in 4x4 mode, but I had not engaged the system.. I also noticed that the diagram of the vehicle showing which mode you are driving in, auto, 2wd or 4wd, high or low was missing completely. The Armada became heavy but responsive so i began to slow down and eventually pulled over and turned of the beast. I sat for a few minutes pushing in and out on the VDC button and then turned on the Armada. At first all seemed normal and I pulled out onto the highway. Within seconds the system lights re-appeared and again I pulled off the road and shut the Truck down. Upon re-starting I drove off again resuming speed to over 70mph and soon the lights came back on until i arrived home and shut off my truck. I called my nissan dealer while on the highway and reported the incident and was told to bring her in for a check up. I will say that unlike other times when the brake light(displayed in red) came on and i felt a spongy brake pedal this time the brakes still were responsive and operated as normal. ( I have responded to other members same incidents of preceived ABS failure, and have reported that by just stopping and turning of the vehicle the brake light went out and all returned to normal. With this recent incident I thought more action was needed. Below is the wording from my work order issued by the service department of Pittsburgh East Nissan.

Customer states slip, ABS, VDC Off and 4x4 lights tay on, Vehicle is not in 4x4
Verified concern, ABS open Sig, vehicle speed sensor, R/Rear and 4x4 switch, will need vehicle about 5 hours upon return. They had to order the parts.

Fortunately or unfortunately however you see it I had to fly to Vegas for a business meeting( oh the pain) so my wife took the beast in for eval and diagnosis. Guess this week some time I will get the call to bring her in for outpatient surgery, the Armada not my wife.....I will up date as needed upon repair.

Small note to those who get taken at the Casinos in Vegas and return home empty handed and dejected. I came home with the Casinos Money this time and although i was only there for 3 days and only had a limited amount of time to test my casino skills i doubled my money.. I wont say how much exactly but it was over 1k, which produced a grand euphoric effect on the long plane ride home saturday night.

Hope this sets some of your minds at easy that if you experience the problem which I have explained above that your vehicle will get you to your destination and beyond without serious incidence. Please drive safely and alertly and arrive incident free.

I had the VDC off light come on and stay. Also the 4 wheel diagram light disappeared. I took it in 1st time and they checked all the grounds. A couple days later it started again and they had to replace one of the computer modules. Has never happened again since they replaced the module.

I have an 06 Mada LE @43k miles. I noticed that the VDC Off, Slip and Brake dash light come on intermittently - maybe once a week. I've researched other threads on the same issue and found that it may be the ABS Actuator. Since these lights only come intermittently, could there be a different issue? I guess this would be a dealer repair if in fact it is the ABS Actuator. Any advise would be appreciated.

First check your brake fluid level. It must be up to the full line.

vdc/slip/dash lights

I had the exact same problem, went through all the logical checks up to replacing the battery without result. Finally fixed it and found it was a low voltage problem. The factory battery clamps are cheap brass and alloy and can not be tightened enough to create a sound electrical connection. They just strip out. As the factory clamps heat up and cool down they lose their strength.
Fix: replace both clamps with after market solid lead (as opposed to hollow molded lead) clamps. Since I have replaced the clamps, my vdc/slip/dash lights have stopped the dance. I checked them at 127 degrees OAT (Big Bend National park) and below freezing (Yellowstone/Pikes Peak) hot soaked or cold soaked, the electrical system works perfectly now.

Good morning guys,
I know it has been said before however to reiterate; these forums provide and invaluable resource of information. I too recently encountered the VDC Off, Slip and Brake dash light coming on intermittently with my 07’ QX. I already had an appointment booked with the dealership however after doing some research and based on Club Armada user feedback, I checked on my brake reservoir and sure enough the fluid level was at the “minimum” mark. I toped it up with the best Dot3 fluid I could get my hands on and the VDC Off, Slip and Brake dash lights disappeared almost instantaneously.

I realize that the loss of fluid could be due to degradation of break pads and/or rotors but at least now I have more time to determine root cause and will certainly avoid a very expensive dealership service invoice in the interim.

Thanks again for the great info!

re

Just a quick update for those who are interested. Sure enough just over a week after I topped up the fluid; what I expected became a reality. The "feeler" on my back left brake pad started making noise indicating the pad was in need of replacement. I ended up swapping out all four rotors along with new brake pads on each wheel. When brake fluid levels drop its usually because the pads are wearing and the calipers have to travel further in order to engage the pad on the rotor, resulting in more fluid needed in the brake line and depleting the reservoir.

Fixed my QX56 issue too.....

Thanks for the information! It's sad that Nissan gets a forum and Infiniti owners must be too wealthy to try to fix anything themselves! ha ha!!!
I keep finding fixes here for my Infiniti (yes I know Infiniti is listed here) But in google searches it pretty much only comes up for Nissan.

Anyhow, thank you for the information, it was indeed the brake fluid levels.

I am currently having the same problem. I topped off the fluid and the light went out for a short period of time but is back on. I believe it is because of my rear brakes which I am going to try and replace with R1 concepts this weekend. I have a couple questions about doing this.

1. Is there a "How To" link on the site to save me some time an headaches?

2. Because I topped of the brake fluid I am assuming that when I compress the caliper in with the new pad and routers that I will have to much fluid and will over flow, what is the best way to address this? Should I try and siphon some out of the fluid then top it off.

Shouldn't be much headache at all. I've changed brake pads twice (on the 'mada) already. Usually done without a hitch.

A. Wheel off
B. Caliper bolts off
C. Remove reservoir cap
D. Use old pad & c-clamp to compress piston
E. Remove old pads & install in reverse order.

As for fluid level during this process, I shoved an old shop rag underneath the reservoir to catch overflow. Clean up as necessary. Good Luck!

Be sure the brake fluid level is all the way to the full line. If it is a little low it will cause this.

Yesterday on the 05 Armada, Parking Brake, VDC/Slip light and one other came on...I was bracing for a hefty repair. Drove normally, just lots of dashboard lights all came on at once. Turned out, I only needed brake fluid, low fluid was causing the vehicle to throw 3 or 4 different codes. Brakes were a bit mushy, perhaps that's why. Lucky me, now I can spend on that exhaust, and new brake setup I was thinking of.

glad you got it sorted out.

these idiot lamps are most times not as bad as they look to be. in your case, and others, it's just usually low brake fluid or brakes.
