I understand the general principles of VDC, but when it is shut off, there is still some computer intervention, via "slip" light. I'm assuming the VDC kills engine power, where as the "slip" is indicating that the brakes are keeping the spinning wheels in check, and transferring power across to the other side, via the open differentials. When the VDC is off, the engine still roars full speed ahead, and it keeps a steady line (even though it's spinning the wheels). If it didn't intervene, then I assume only one wheel would be spinning (in 2wd )? Also, when it applies the brakes to the RR, then power goes to the LR, but does it also automatically switch from FL to FR? I'm pretty sure the diagonal wheel is always countering the other driven wheel to keep control in our 4wd system??????? Little help here fellas. I've never experimented with it until now, as I have about 33K on worn down junk Rugged Trails, and I would like to get a better idea of how it works before I reskin the shoes. Either way I've already had a blast playing around in 2 wd doing donuts in the parking lot. HOLY HEAVYWEIGHT Batman, this thing is HEAVY and carries a LOAD of momentum when doing donuts!!!

the slip light comes on because abls is still working, not VDC. And you my friend are going to need to video tape that and post it on this forum because i wanna see this car spinning both rear wheels and leaving a nice fat number 11. :fantastic

Look at the attachments. They may help you to understand VDC and related functions.

Personally, I hate electronic traction control and Limited slips. I've gotten into far more trouble with it than without it on every vehicle I've owned, wish there was a way to remove it, and want true posi diffs. But that's me, Corvette guy. ;)

That's not what I've felt with the wheel spin upon acceleration. According to this, there is no chance for anyone to break loose the rear tires. Now when I first got the beast I broke loose the rear tires around corners in 2 wd, but couldn't tell if only the inside wheel was spinning. IN the winter I can't tell either, because I'm not outside watching (and my 3 and 2 yr old boys can't tape it for me). I know I see the "slip", but don't feel the cut in engine power they talk about with the TCS.
