Have all of you had to get there brakes systems recalled because of the extreme vibration while driving and braking after putting 22" rims or bigger?
I just did it day before yesterday and was ridding the Armada like that for all this months and the vibration was killing me, NISSAN took care of it and amazing but its completely gona, no vibration what so ever.

Also the dealer might try to trick you into telling you that the front rotors are the only once that need to be upgraded only, but say that vibration felt both in the back and front so both will get upgraded...

So if any of you have this same issue dont wait and take it in, to get the rotors and breaks replaced...

I just went through the same problem and had the Dealer change them for free. Now I have a smooth ride. Please what else can we get upgrades for before our warranty runs out. Truely, we don't have to wait for such problems to occur. May I suggest that a special Column be established for such UPGRADES or RECALLS.

Can you please clarify what the recall is for exactly. Is it specifically for 22inch wheels and up? And for what years? I have yet to experience anything in my '06 with stock wheels, thanks for the clarification.

I believe this is referring to a TSB, not a recall. Affected 04 and some 05's. So your 06 doesn't need it. It was for front rotors that were warping and causing viration while applying the brakes. 06's already have the newer rotors.

The site for all TSBs and Recalls is listed at least twice here in CA. Here is one:

Exactly right, there is no "recall" just a TSB. Also, the brakes on 04 and 05 models now come with a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty (unless you have a nissan extended warranty, and then your brakes will be covered for the life of your warranty.

It's an issue that Nissan is fully aware of, and my 05 nissan, purchased in Jan, 06 had a sticker, noting that some models may suffer from vibration due to a warping of the rotors.

If you call Nissan Consumer Affairs, they are more than happy to help you. They don't give you any "flack" or b.s. line. They really do want to get the trucks that are affected, repaired.

However, it should be noted that rotor warping has been major issue on Nissans: Frontiers, Maximas, 350z's etc for nearly a decade. It was a huge safety issue on the last generation frontier crew-cabs, of which I owned two, and traded in two, based totally on the brake issues.

There's really no excuse for it, at this point. I had the Rotors replaced on my 00 and 02 Nissan Frontier 4 times, in one year, for each truck, which is why I traded each, eventually the 02 for a 350z, only to have the identical issue.

Since I was aware of the warranty on the brakes of the Armada, I felt secure, I went with another Nissan product. I have no vibration, as of yet, and I really do put the brakes under a good amount of stress.

In fact the Mada, is only about 20 miles per hour slower, around my favorite mountain course Mt. Lemmon, in Tucson, AZ- a 28 mile, avg. 8% twisty, newly paved mountain road, 15 mins, from my house. 2500 feet, to nearly 9,500 feet, in 28 miles. The Mada will easily hit 80-90 on some of the uphill straights, where as the Nissan would hit 120+, the same for the downhills, only about 20 miles per hour slower.

It's not bad, (and no, this is not a road that is heavily used) On a weekday morning, you'll be lucky to see 1-2 cars, the entire 60 mile, up/down roundtrip (usually forest rangers, with radar guns).

So, in closing, I'm perfectly happy with the braking performance of this 6000 beast, when compared to the 350z, and it's far more precise than the crappy 00, and 02 frontiers I had.

Just had the brake mod done to my 2005 Armada a few days ago. Thought the TSB was just for teh front but they said they turned my rear rotors and put new pads on teh rear also. It drives so much better. Did not know you get a 3year 36k mile warrenty on brakes. Also been trying to get a Nissan authorized factory extended warrenty but the dealer told me nissan does not offer one.
