HI people. I need some help, I bought myself an ARMADA SE, thats a 2WD version, and its just done 150km, so far.

I took the car to a manual Car-Washing agent here, in Dubai, the UAE.
What happened was , during the Car-Wash, the cleaner sprayed high pressure water directly into the car bonnet grille, and that i suppose went into the car engine, etc....
Then, whilst driving the car out , i noticed a burning smell inside the car, i got out and opened the bonnet, and it was intense burn smell. I called my garage friend, he told me to let it dry, so I let it dry, and the next day, took it for a short drive, when...
the VDC OFF indicator in the dash lit up, along with the SLIP indicator and CHECK ENGINE indicator...
since then, i havent touched the car, i dont want it to get screwed up....
Has anybody had a similar experience, please help!!!:crikey:

Not sure exactly what you mean by 'bonnet grille'. Can't see it getting into the engine if you have the stock airbox. The water would settle to the bottom of the airbox and drain out. Your filter may get wet but that's about it. And also, there is nothing electrical inside the combustion chamber. Would make you run bad until it evaporated out a little. If you smell burning it sounds electrical.

There is a connector that is prone to getting wet and causing electircal problems. Check here to see if your vehicle is one it affects.

Bonnet is British for Hood. Some of the tire wells have been know to allow water to get through the seems into the air box. Generally happens when the wheels are in reverse spinning in a deep puddle.

1. Aftermarket airboxes solve this.
2. The XE titan fender wells do also.
3. Open the air box. If you have water in it, change the oil and have a mechanic look at it. Should be fine but you want it to be looked at.
4. Could also be the electrical problem.

Water in Airbox

The stock airbox is designed to deflect water to the bottom of the box and there is a whole for the water to drain out. If the car wasn't running there should be no way for the water to get into the engine. Plus that wouldn't cause an electrical smell. Sounds like something else.

i ran through the site, nissanhelp/services... but couldnt come across a similar situation.
HAsn't anybody gone through a situation where the:_
Check Engine, VDC OFF, and SLIP indicators, light up simultaneously?!!!
I went through the owners manual, and it says if that happens , i should go to the dealer.
Is it possible that waters gone somewhere into the battery area?, dynamo, etc?!!

This happens if you leave the motor running and fill up the tank, don't screw down the gas cap tight, etc. The system checks for pressure in the tank. If it can't pressurize, it thinks there's a leak and lights up those lights. It checks every hundred miles or so, so it will rarely happen. I had it happen on my infiniti. They said it will reset itself the next time it checks, which it did.
