Tha car is under warranty. Have the dealer service it.

Could simply be a faulty sensor, damaged wiring harness, etc etc etc...

 

You say it has happened a lot of times and resets itself. I was going to say this (below) may be the problem, but since you say it happens so many times, it may not be what I think, but I will just say what I think.

In our cars with the front sensor, if you are driving into the sun's rays or glares and it hits that radar spot directly, it will affect it and it will turn off until the radar is in a position that it is out of the sun's glares. So, I was going to say maybe this is your problem, but since you say it happens so many times, my answer may not apply not your situation.

This has only happened to me when we have ice or snow on the front/rear. Never via the sun or randomly. Sounds like a bad sensor. Document which one(s) and demand that they replace them. That’s the first step. After that, try the relays or modulator.

Petite is speaking about the FLIR radar (lower grille) that is used for adaptive cruise and self braking nanny features, not the SONAR sensors in the bumper.

Let’s mess ure we are all on the same page here..

You must have an older armada. The newer armadas/q’s dont have the “false echos” you get with rain, snow, etc.

 

Marc, now I am confused. Who "must have an older Armada?" Me or Petite? I have a 2017 Armada Platinum.

What's FLIR? Forward Looking Radar? Do you mean the sonar for the camera assistance or the radar for FEB (Forward Emergency Braking), BCI (Back up Collison Intervention), ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control)? Both the Armada's Sonar and Radar give me errors telling me that their system is no longer functional. I also get false reading indicating something is in the way when the Armada has snow and ice on it. The error says, "System No Longer Functional" or something similar on the screen. Sometimes I just get warning lights indicating something is front/back of the Armada when not moving at a stoplight and/or I see lights indicating that something is in it's blinds spots (via the mirrors). But it only happens when my the Armada has ice and snow on it.

I just clear the ice and snow and it is fine. But if it did that when there was no snow or ice, I would take it to the dealer ASAP and demand they check the sensors/radar.

i didnt know what model car you have.

yes the radar at the lower grille.

i am under the ASSumption the new armada has the same sensors in the bumper as the qx, since they are built on the same line.

although it does not rain here in LA much, when it DOES rain, the sensors have not ever went off. cant speak for snow/ice..

perhaps the sensors on the newer armada are still like the old style, and if so, i apologize for the mis-speak....

I've had issues with snow/ice on the front sensor kicking in my alert and front camera. Typically, it goes away once I wipe it off but this last time even after doing so, I got a couple hits (but less frequently).

 

I have the same issue with snow and ice build up impacts the sensor and the camera. It’s absurd this is not connected to a defrost feature to keep that clear. Have this feature on both of my BMW and never get a problem. I even went into settings and turned all those features off for them to turn back to default after a few minutes of driving.

Take it in. The sensors must be bad. I live in AZ and tons of sun - no issues. Have also used in flagstaff when snowing and really cold. No issues.
