my mirror set up looks different, no plug in on the back of the mirror. Looks like the wire runs up the center of the mirror shaft. Looks like I will have to pull off a black plastic cover just above the mirror. It is a dimming mirror with the rear camera option instead of an actual mirror. I know Dongar Technology and a company called FitDVR make a unit for that but they offer a 7pin, 10 pin and a 12 pin And no chart to tell me which one the Armada has. Do you recall how many pins yours had and what year Armada do you have?

 

there is a guy who ran wires down the pillar into the fuse panel on the passengers side. i did this on my 2 ch dashcam some years ago before thee fancy thing-a-ma-jigs that connect to the mirror came out. thats easy to do.

Thanks for that info. one more question, does your mirror have the plug right on the back or did you have to remove a black plastic cover right above the mirror?

Rick, did you get this figured out. I am looking at doing the same thing as you and I wonder if there is a way to actually do this on the mirror like you and I have. I'm working with a 2023 armada platinum.

 

I have not, but received the cam for Christmas, I’m in Wisconsin and just don’t want to do this in freezing temps. BUT I did find out it’s a 10 pin Dongar plugin adapter I will need but I’m really looking for info on how to remove that black plastic cover above the mirror on the above council. 2024 ARMADA PLATINUM. If you find any info please pass it on. Concerned in these temps the plastic clips will break if I pry too hard. So I really want to know what I’m doing before Instarr exploratory surgery if you know what I mean.

 

There are no wires going to the that rear view mirror because the Platinum trim comes standard with the "Intelligent rear-view mirror" which is different from the "Auto diming rear view mirror" which is standard in the SL trim and optional in the SV trim.

 

If there's no wires going to the rear view mirror how's it getting power and video to the mirror?

 

That is the golden question. Either they are very well hidden thru the frame support, or most likely uses wireless technology to power and display information.

 

The black part is only held in with 4 clips, i used a pry tool to take it out, and the overhead light with the compartment is held in with 2 clips close to the black part, I just pulled it down hard and it came out.

 

Where to hard wire a dash cam for 24/7 power On my 2018 Nissan Armada Platinum. I want the parking collision option available. My dashcam will shut off if battery gets too low.

Is there a fuse box under the dash? If so, is there an open fuse slot to use?

I have a 2017 Infiniti QX80 and can't find an adapter for my dash cam, anybody knows where I can get one? I know it's similar to the Nissan Armada

 

I have found two different types, a Dongar brand and a fitDVR. Both companies have automotive fit charts. I have a 2024 Armada which requires a 10 pin dongle, both companies offer it. I haven't yet ordered mine so please let me know how it went with your install.. Both are also available on Amazon, but I'm planning on ordering direct from the company.

I ordered thr fitDVR. A small issue was I ordered it for my specific vehicle but none of the plugs matched what I have. BUT customer service was excellent after shooting them pictures and discussing the issue the sent at no charge an adapter that is going to hook into the rain sensor instead of the mirror. I have not installed it yet as the temperature has just been too hot to work in a vehicle. But I’m looking at an install in a couple of weeks. I will forward how things went, looks pretty simple other than placing the camera where it’ll look good and not be in the way.

 

Thank you for sharing the info. I believe with the rain sensor the dash cam will be on only when your car is on. Please share your experience once you’ve completed the installation. All the best.
