Idle RPM Problem

I recently attempted to add a hydro assist system to my mada, following a friend's example. Unfortunitely for me, after about a week of driving, I noticed my idle rpms were getting way above normal. Then the check engine light turned on, along with the VDC off and Slip lights, and the car won't allow above 2k rpms while accelerating. I have already taken off the system, but with no luck. I do recall the day it happened. I washed the engine compartment with high pressure, went to the gas station, added fuel cleaning solution, and filled up. When I got home, I got out of the car and noticed the engine started increasing the rpms in the park position, about to 1500. If I leave the engine idleing a long time, there is some funny smell that comes from the engine. I have tried getting a new Mass airflow sensor and that didn't help either. When I run the codes, it says idle rpm high, and something about the throttle body, like check for obstruction. Intake is clean. Any ideas? Could it be that I recently cleaned my K&N filter? Any help would be great.

Check all of your connections under the hood and make sure you didn't get water into some. I have seen that throw some of the sensors off.

Hey, I got it back in working order. I took off the throttle body completely, there was a lot of carbon buildup. So I took fine sandpaper and made it look like new. It didn't do anything at first, but after a few starts/stops of the engine, it runs like new! I guess it needed a few restarts to recalibrate or something. I don't think this had anything to do with the Hydrogen system, cause according to my findings, carbon buildup is pretty common in the throttle body. I guess I was just unlucky enough to have a problem with it.

Glad to hear that you were able to taske care of the problem. Let us know how the hydro kit works.
