Nice find. I like that.
That filter is for a Porche and not at all recommended for our Armadas, but you say it works for you. That gets my attention because I like larger capacity filters.
So do you have any leaks? I would like a long term update. If you use if for 5,000 miles with no leaks and no problems, please report back so I can buy the same filter and use on my QX. I will look if Mobil 1 makes similar filter for same Porche. If they do, then theoretically, it should also fit our cars.
The only spec incompatibility I found with the K&N (for Porsche) is the bypass valve pressure as listed on one site. The consensus specs match across the board--except outer dimensions, obviously. Most websites listed the bypass pressure the same as the Armada's stock filter spec, one exception the listed bypass pressure 60% higher. I checked and Porsche runs about the same oil pressure that we do, 50-80 psi range, so it's probably in error. The larger filter would be much less likely to clog anyway.
I discovered after days of comparing filter model specs between websites that the quality control of oil filter information is atrocious - I didn't find a single site without consistent major errors.
Do you happen to know the mobil 1 equivalent of same filter?
According to Mobil 1, they don't make one. But they don't specifically list an Armada, either (see their M1-110 info, linked below). They don't even offer a web-based compatibility tool , just a bunch of makes and years, mixed with seemingly random part numbers. Their website is a mess:

I searched for the word Porsche with no hits--I'm sure of one thing: they have no idea if they make a 968 filter.
Here is what Autozone says:

Here's what Purolator's filter finder does:
http://www.pureoil.com/index.php
Purolator does make a filter for the Porsche, according to Advance Auto Parts. But AAP's website is broken too, and won't tell you the filter model number.
It's all broken. Total Chaos.
I would like to know more. How many miles have you had the filter on so far? Did you put more than normal quart of oil when you did your oil change?
About 50, I literally did it yesterday. Bone dry so far. Yes I added oil to the filter and topped the truck off. The Porsche filter's outer dimensions would hold 40% more oil, but I didn't measure how much i put in.
Also, I also like frequent oil changes. I used to stick to 10,000 miles oil change, but now I wish to be doing 5,000 miles oil changes. It does not hurt to always have fresher fluids. It is actually nice. But not a problem too for people who do long oil change intervals. One should do what makes them comfortable as usual.
I agree, it seems the only viable "filter" for loads of soot and pulverized metal is physical oil removal, or a Franz toilet paper-style piggyback filter. Amsoil makes one now, too.
I also ordered eight, 33 pound rare earth magnet bars to attach around the filter casing. But after a week of incremental shipping delays, today Amazon told me they never mailed anything. Chaos everywhere.
Through yesterday, I used Red Line synthetic at about $10/quart bought in 12 qt packs. So $60 per 10K miles. Lately, I'm convinced using any clean cheap oil at $10 fill, changed every 2-3K miles would be would've been better to prevent engine wear. Fortunately the truck still seems to be running strong @ 206K miles. I might piggy back a Frantz on the Armada anyway, since they are movable between vehicles.
